Kendall College School of Hospitality Management Professor Recognized as Educator Honoree by PCMA Education Foundation

Glen C. Ramsborg honored for his contributions to the meeting and event industry

Chicago—April 28, 2011
Kendall College School of Hospitality Management Professor Glen C. Ramsborg, Ph.D., CMP, was recognized as Educator Honoree for his distinguished efforts in the meeting and event industry at the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Education Foundation Dinner Honoring Professional Achievement on Wednesday, April 27. Since joining Kendall College, Ramsborg has been instrumental in gaining national attention for the hospitality management program among meeting and event professionals.

“The PCMA’s mission is to deliver superior and innovative education and promote the value of professional convention management, which are all qualities we see in the notable career of Dr. Glen Ramsborg,” said Deborah Sexton, President and CEO of PCMA. “On behalf of the PCMA Board and our members, we are grateful to Glen for his time and efforts to further enhance the professionalism of our industry and proudly bestow on him the title of 2011 Educator Honoree.”

Prior to joining Kendall College in 2009, Ramsborg worked as Senior Director, Education, for the PCMA. In this role, Ramsborg served as the Executive Editor of the fifth edition of PCMA’s Professional Meeting Management, recognized as the industry’s premier textbook, and developed the first and most comprehensive online program for industry professionals preparing for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. The program has earned the remarkable distinction of having a 98-percent pass rate among those who took the course and sat for the examination in 2008. PCMA named him “Educator of the Year” in 2003.

“This is a well deserved distinction for Glen and we are very proud to have him as a faculty member,” said Jeffrey Catrett, Dean of the Kendall College School of Hospitality Management. “His extensive experience in the meeting and event industry as well as his credentials as an academic and educator bring much enrichment to our students and program.”

Ramsborg is a veteran education professional with a 25-year career in meeting and event management. Earlier this year, he began a two-year term (2011-2012) as Academic Liaison on the CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) Board of Directors, an appointed position where he represents the academic community in decisions made by the CMP Board. In March, he completed a three-year term as a member of the APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) Standards Review Council, which helped redefine the newly released APEX Industry Glossary, one of the most comprehensive guides to terminology in the meeting planning industry around the world.
