Meet the Dean

Dr. Susan Tinnish
Dean, School of Hospitality Management

Dr. Tinnish is a highly regarded thought leader in the hospitality industry.  She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including ITME’s Motivation Show, Meeting Professionals International conferences, Professional Convention Management Association national conferences and Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s MEET and Affordable Meetings.  A member of the Kendall College School of Hospitality Management faculty since 2008, Dr. Tinnish has taught courses on leadership, organizational behavior, sustainability and meeting management.  She also played a key role in launching Kendall’s new concentration in Sustainable Management in Hospitality and Tourism.

Dr. Tinnish is an expert on sustainable practices for business meetings and trade shows. She chairs the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) committee that established the APEX/ASTM International Standards for environmentally sustainable meetings and events and served as the U.S. Chair for the International Standards Organization (ISO) effort to develop a worldwide sustainable events management system.

Dr. Tinnish earned her PhD from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.  She holds an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance and marketing from University of Chicago’s Booth School and a B.S. in communication studies from Northwestern University.
